We teach ages 3 and up. We recommend starting lessons around age 4. If you are anxious to start lessons for your child younger than 4, we recommend group lessons (we do not offer group lessons). Most of the 3–4 year-old lessons are spent getting your child used to the water—we will do that for you or you can do that with these helpful tips. You can prepare your child for swimming lessons by helping them get frequent exposure to water, getting their faces wet when bathing or washing hair, practice blowing bubbles in the water through their mouth and nose, and demonstrate getting your own head wet without fear. We recommend using a puddle jumper when your child is in the water to help get them to practice kicking, moving, and swimming in the correct position. You can also assist your child without a flotation device in water that is chest deep on them, to help your swimmer get acclimated to how their body moves and feels in the water. We are happy to teach your 3 year-old, however, swimming on their own is not an age appropriate goal and we want to manage your expectations before signing up for private classes. Please watch the step-by-step instructional videos in the tab above for more information on how to help your child in the water.
YES! We love swimmers of all abilities. We cater our lessons to each individual swimmer. We are comfortable with non-verbal, deaf, autistic, down syndrome, physically disabled, or any disability your swimmer may have. If you have special requests or concerns, please call or text (262) 215-1906 ahead of your class time so that we can prepare for your needs.
Yes! We want you to feel comfortable and have a positive experience in the water. Helping swimmers overcome their fears is a rewarding experience and we want to help you.
Yes! We teach adults, kids, swim team prep, lap swimmers, diving, triathlon training, vacation prep, snorkeling, and water safety. You're never too old to learn to swim well. Please see the instructional videos in the tab above for more stroke improvement tips.
There is no set answer for that question, it depends on the swimmer. Fearful swimmers take longer to adjust while more fearless students often pick it up faster. Age and size also play a large factor in swimmer's abilities. We suggest several lessons in a row to get them swimming faster, with frequent practice time outside of lessons. Swimming lessons are like piano lessons, you need proper instruction and practice. Swimming needs regular practice to keep swimmers progressing and retaining skills.
We have a bathroom in the house that the swimmers can use. Please clean up after your swimmer. INSTRUCTORS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO HELP YOUR CHILD USE THE RESTROOM. If your swimmer cannot use the restroom alone, someone must be present during the lesson to assist them. Have your swimmer go to the bathroom before coming, so we don't have to waste your lesson time on potty breaks.
You don’t need much, just a swimming suit and towel. We ask that parents do not bring swim shoes, swim aids, or flotation devices, which are not allowed in the pool during lessons. Have your swimmer go to the bathroom and blow their nose before lessons so we don't have to waste lesson time on potty breaks and boogers.
We teach 25 minute one on one lessons. Your swimmer will be taught water safety and personalized swim instruction with their own teacher.
Your child will be fully visible from the seating areas that are about 10 feet away from the pool. Make yourself comfortable in any of the chair areas. Parents and children are not allowed on the pool deck during lessons. We want to keep the pool area safe and free of distractions for the swimmers. Students, please wait in the observation areas until your scheduled lesson time.
Other children are welcome to be with you; however, we cannot assume responsibility for them while they are in the pool area. No one is allowed to be in the water, except the students who are currently having their lessons.
